A senior executive from the SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation said Clark is the country’s future development zone.
“We always see that Clark is the future. With all the developments happening and even now we see how Clark International Airport is preparing and how international flights are aiming to land in Clark. So the future is there,” Walid Wafik said. , Senior Vice President of Operations of SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation.
Wafik was one of the guests at the Tuesday, March 29 relaunch of the News @ Hues media forum hosted by the Pampanga Press Club (PPC) and Park Inn by Radisson Clark.
He said local government units were working together to connect Clark to Metro Manila. “It’s going to happen so we know there’s a future here.”
The SM executive said that SMX Clark, which is their third largest convention center after SMX MOA and SMX Davao, will open on May 24, 2022.
“This SMX [Clark] has a great advantage, we have built 14 meeting rooms. It’s bigger than any other SMX we have at this scale,” Wafik said.
SMX Clark can accommodate multi-scale events with gross leasable space of over 4,000 square meters. It has event spaces on two levels and a mezzanine for offices.
It was strategically built near SM City Clark and the Park Inn by Radisson Clark hotel.
Andrea Francesca Madlangbayan, regional operations manager for SM Supermalls, said it has included parking spaces in its development plan that will complement the operation of SMX Clark and the recently expanded Park Inn hotel.
She said a 900-space multi-level parking lot will open ahead of SMX Clark’s launch.
According to Madlangbayan, SM City Clark also has an existing steel bridge parking lot next to the convention center.
“It’s about 100 spaces, so those attending the convention will be able to choose to use either the steel parking lot or the customer parking lot here at the back,” she added.
For her part, Park Inn By Radisson Clark general manager Ann Olalo said their new 100-room extension will open in June this year.
“So the new wing that opens in June has an additional 100 rooms. The original wing is 154, which gives us a total of 254 rooms that we will take over when SMX opens, when the MICE groups are here and again our advantage is proximity. We are connected by a door, so very convenient for our customers. They stay in the new wing, they go down the elevator and they are already there in SMX,” Olalo said.
