UK. In a strong sign of the sector’s recovery as UK travel restrictions ease, MAG – operator of East Midlands, London Stansted and Manchester airports – has started recruiting to fill more than 1,000 jobs .

Roles range from security guards and customer service officers to car park staff and reception and lounge workers.

At Manchester and London Stansted Airports alone, there are over 500 security roles, and a further 95 are available at East Midlands Airport.

Major investment at Manchester Airport in recent times has improved the working environment for existing and potential employees

Thousands of other jobs are also available at businesses operating at the three airports, including ground handlers, cleaning companies, shops and restaurants.

These security roles can enjoy a wide range of benefits, MAG noted. These include discounts on public transport when you get to work (80% off at London Stansted Airport), free on-site parking while you work and when you go on holiday, a retirement, training programs, retail discounts and more.

MAG said its three airports saw a strong recovery in October and November. Although this slowed slightly when restrictions were introduced in response to the Omicron variant COVID-19, these controls were removed last week.

This gave the UK travel sector a major boost, with consumer confidence rising and bookings increasing in the days following the announcement. MAG observed that this has paved the way for a strong recovery in the travel industry this year, particularly ahead of the busy summer season.

Green shoots of recovery: Many jobs are immediately available at London Stansted Airport, with many more to come via a major business expansion program at the travel center in the coming months. MAG Retail Director Ben Green recently revealed to the Moodie Davitt Report that there are currently 53 capital projects under development at London Stansted, all involving retail or F&B and scheduled to open by summer 2022.

Cath Bailey, Chief People Officer of MAG, said: “It is great that our passengers have more freedom to fly, as the aviation industry gets back on its way to recovery. We always knew the sector would rebound quickly with the easing of travel restrictions, which eased over the weekend.

“This means we now have hundreds of fantastic and interesting roles available to suit a wide range of people with different experiences, skills and backgrounds. We encourage applications from people with strong interpersonal skills, ambition and enthusiasm.

“Airports are great places to work, varied, interesting and with great potential. Our colleagues derive great satisfaction from their work by interacting with customers and helping them get their vacation off to a good start. This is a great opportunity to develop your career and join our friendly team at one of MAG’s bustling and dynamic airports.

A series of virtual job fairs will take place to promote the jobs available at each of MAG’s airports. Information on these can be found via the links below.

Before the pandemic, MAG’s three UK airports served over 60 million passengers to over 285 destinations.
