Boots, WHSmith and DHL offer vacancies at East Midlands Airport job fair

East Midlands Airport will soon hold its first face-to-face job fair in two years – with plenty of vacancies available.

It will take place on Saturday February 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in its registration hall.

Last year’s event was canceled due to the Covid pandemic and instead the airport held virtual events as part of its recruitment campaigns.

The job fair allows people to meet employers in person to find out more about available positions. It’s also a great opportunity for recruiters to showcase what they have to offer job seekers.

Hundreds of roles are available throughout the airport, working for the airport itself and with partner companies. Vacancies range from front-line operational jobs to hospitality.

Employers at the job fair include:

  • East Midlands Airport
  • Swissport, expert in aeronautical services
  • DHL Express
  • The Restaurant Group (TRG), which operates Frankie and Benny’s in the airport departure lounge
  • HMSHost, which manages catering points in the airport
  • World Duty Free (WDF) – Dufry
  • WH Smith/InMotion
  • Boots
  • HAE, handling agent
  • Aviation Recruitment Network

The airport and many of its corporate partners are gearing up for what promises to be a busier year following the easing of travel restrictions.

The travel sector has been one of the hardest hit during the pandemic, during which international travel has come to a standstill.

However, the airport forecasts a more optimistic outlook for 2022 and expects 80% of pre-Covid passenger numbers, most of which will pass through the airport between April and October.

A team of the airport academy, which is a dedicated employment and skills center for adults.

Working alongside Stephenson College, it helps unemployed people find work and offers free “upskilling” programs to local employees.

Job seekers who feel they would benefit from more training and support before applying for positions can discuss their needs with the academy team who will be present during the job fair.

East Midlands Airport Academy co-ordinator Dave Gale said: “There is no substitute for job seekers meeting employers in person. There are currently many vacancies throughout the company, whether working at the heart of the airfield operation, assisting customers through security or preparing and serving as food and drink.

“We cater to job seekers, whether they are employed people looking for a change, or unemployed people hoping to start their careers this year.”
