MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) will soon issue guidelines on administering third-dose or booster vaccines, an official from the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 said on Tuesday.

In an interview, NTF Special Medical Advisor Dr Ted Herbosa said DOH has committed to publishing the guidelines by November 15, after approval by the Interagency Working Group for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF -EID).

“With a bit of luck, please you have the best third dose (we can specify to whom the third dose will be administered) “, he added when 2.7 million doses of Russian Sputnik V jabs arrived at terminal 2 of the Ninoy Aquino international airport.

The DOH previously approved the provision of boosters to fully immunized health workers (A1), the elderly (A2), and immunocompromised adults (A3).

Previously the head of the NTF and vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. said the government would likely use a “homologous” vaccination schedule in delivering booster shots, following the recommendation of the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG) and the expert panel.

As part of the diet, the booster will be the same brand as the previous doses.

The majority of primary vaccines administered are Sinovac and AstraZeneca. (ANP)
