In 2023, this is what the 14-story hotel and 4-story car park will look like:

City leaders say this is what Nashville needs to accommodate our burgeoning population and record airport passenger numbers. And while Wednesday was an exciting day for those at the airport, officials say it’s more than an innovation; it marks the start of greater economic growth.

“[This airport] is about three times the average growth of airports. We’ve grown 10% per year for almost 10 years if you suppress the pandemic, ”said Doug Kreulen, president and CEO of Nashville International Airport.

With nearly 18.3 million passengers in 2019, Nashville International Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in North America. According to a recent study, in 2019 alone, the BNA generated more than $ 8.1 billion in total economic impact, supported more than 76,000 jobs in the region and generated more than $ 443 million in state taxes. , local and federal.

“It ends up being the gateway to Nashville, so it has to be in good shape and hopefully shine who we are; we have a lot of culture, a lot of jobs and a lot of great people, ”Nashville Mayor John Cooper said at Wednesday’s grand opening right next to the upcoming new central terminal at Nashville International Airport .

With 292 rooms, including six luxury suites, this upscale hotel is designed to meet major emerging global trends in airport hotels and the growing demand from business and leisure travelers, groups and individuals. meetings.

A Grand Plaza will include an outdoor dining area, bar and cafe. Innovative meeting and event space will total 16,500 square feet, including an 8,000 square foot Grand Ballroom / Event space. In addition, on the roof there will be a large Glass SkyBar lounge and an outdoor SkyPool.

The hotel tower will crown a four-level car park, with hotel parking on the ground floor, public parking on the upper levels and a covered pedestrian bridge connecting the Grand Plaza hotel and the garage to the central terminal of BNA.

“As the city and state try to recruit new businesses to come to Nashville, what your airport is doing and how many nonstop stops do you probably have at the top of the checklist,” Kreulen said, adding that this expansion will be a great platform for both. more international and domestic flights. “We will most likely by June 30 of next year set a new airport size record.”

For companies moving to Nashville, like Oracle, Kreulen notes, size matters.

Other projects to be completed by 2023 include a major terminal renovation, an expanded central security checkpoint, a state-of-the-art international arrival facility and a major extension of the airport route .
